If you’re planning to escape the British winter then we would strongly advise that you start planning now, so you can secure the best value flights and hotel rooms.
Our top recommendations for this winter (aside from our trusted favourites of South Africa and Sri Lanka) would be; Kerala (Gods Own Country), Costa Rica (The Eco Capital of the World) and Australasia. If you’re considering a beach break this winter it may be worth considering the Indian Ocean over the Caribbean – give us a call for more inside info on this….
Kerala
We love Kerala and Southern India as it encapsulates the best of our favourite Indian qualities, primarily the warmth of the people, the mountain tea estates, gentle backwaters, enchanting beaches and the celebrated cities – all of which is at a much less frenetic pace compared with the north, the distances are also more manageable. It’s a great introduction to India for young and old, but also excellent for those who’ve done the northern states and want to return for something different.
Costa Rica
Costa Rica is the world benchmark for environmental sustainability and eco-tourism, this small country is packed with a vast array of natural wonders that are protected and sustained. Explore virgin rainforest and it’s inhabitants on foot or by boat at Pacuare Lodge. On its Caribbean coast the Tortuguero National Park protects some of the world’s most endangered turtles. In land Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve protects over 400 species of birds, including close to 30 species of hummingbirds, more than 100 species of mammals including howler and capuchin monkeys, all five species of cats, deer, tapir and sloths and a total of 1,200 species of amphibians and reptiles. The Pacific Coast is characterised by long sandy beaches flanked by rich eco-systems, the Corcovado National Park is a treasure trove of diversity.
Australasia
Finally, if you’re not averse to the fairly lengthy journey then an Australasian adventure would be just the ticket to ward off those winter blues! This is the perfect time of year to travel to either Australia or New Zealand and the variety of experiences and accommodation is mind-boggling which is where we come in. We know the best boutique lodges, B&Bs and guides who can really bring destinations such as Kangaroo Island, the Blue Mountains and the wilds of New Zealand to life, introduce you to extraordinary and unique characters and take you to destinations well off the tourist path. The boutique luxury lodges in both Australia and New Zealand are out of this world, with stunning settings and fantastic food and wine offerings; however such is the quality and range of accommodation options here we always think mixing things up a bit gives you a great experience of the destination; right through to your low key B&Bs or even a self-drive motorhome.
