If you are thinking of heading across the atlantic, then a great first option is Whistler. It’s an easy flight across to Vancouver and then a 2 hour drive. Located in the coastal mountain of Canada the temperatures are not nearly as extreme as in the Rockies making for an all round more pleasant experience. For powder enthusiasts, on most years, the shear volume of snow makes it well worth the long flight. The town itself has many excellent but large hotels, however there are a few gems like Nita Lake lodge and many excellent chalets.
