Once the safari destination of choice for royals and presidents, there is so much more to Uganda than Gorillas, though this is absolutely an experience not to be missed. In the far north the Kidepo National Park is visually spellbinding, with great herds and very few tourists. Then there are the Murchison Falls, where the entire Nile is squeezed through a gap only 7 meters wide. It was also the back drop for the 1951 film the African Queen. The Queen Elizabeth National Park is superb for bird enthusiasts, and there is a unique opportunity to track the stranded Chimpanzee community in the Kyambura gorge.
