The great parks of Mozambique are still a little way from being back to their best, so for now aside from the most adventurous visitors, Mozambique is all about the islands & beaches, the turquoise Indian Ocean waters and the amazing marine life.
In the north, close to the southern boarder of Tanzania, the Quirimbas Archipelago is a protected haven for some of the most astounding tropical marine life in the world. Many of the islands also have spectacular beaches and are home to some of the worlds finest barefoot luxury resorts. The islands are accessible both from Southern Africa and East Africa.
Further south, the Bazaruto Archipelago is a group of small sand based islands, which are more accessible from South Africa. The beaches, reefs and marine life are the big draw, and again the lodges are models in sustainable eco-tourism, which ensures the beauty is preserved.
