As a year-round destination and offering mountains, jungle, volcanoes and beaches it certainly has something for everyone.
Europe
Maybe the sentimental folks will want one last trip to Europe with free mobile roaming and EU passport queues. If you want to get away before March 29th then for some warmth, the Canary islands or Madeira at Europe’s southernmost tip are the best bet. On the smaller Canary islands such as La Gomera there are some excellent unspoilt walking opportunities; whilst the larger islands like Tenerife, have some superb, but large resort hotels. Madeira is rich in Portuguese culture and has much shared history with the UK. Not to mention some iconic hotels like Reid’s Palace that have never looked better.
Reid’s Palace: 7 nights Deluxe Sea View Room, B&B, with flights and private transfers: From £1,420 per person
South Africa
In our opinion, South Africa’s Western Cape is the perfect choice for those looking to escape the misery of Winter. With no jet lag and an easy overnight flight, you will be transported to the full glory of the South African Summer. February is an incredibly popular time, but there are significant savings to be made if you travel in March (which is the perfect time to visit). You’ll also be gobsmacked by the amazing value for money on local food and drink – thanks to the still very favourable exchange rate. We recommend South Africa to be booked as a tailor-made holiday, combining Cape Town with the Winelands, The Garden Route and a Safari.
