If you are happy to travel a bit further with the kids in search of some warmth, then Oman, Dubai or Abu Dhabi are excellent options.
All within an 8 hour overnight flight, and with only a 4 hour time difference, jet lag is manageable. Here it’s all about opulent beach resort hotels, with faultless service, and every facility a family could desire. Below is a small selection of our favourites, but do call us to discuss as there is so much more.
AL WAHA AT THE SHANGRI-LA BARR AL JISSAH RESORT & SPA, MUSCAT, OMAN
Al Waha is one of 3 resorts in the Shangri-La resort just outside Muscat, Oman. The hotel is pretty much exclusively for families, so it’s very lively, sociable and well placed for the vast “children’s zone”. If you would prefer something quieter, the Al Bandar in the same resort is less child focused.
THE PALM DUBAI
The famous Dubai Palm is now complete, and hosts of excellent affordable family friendly hotels are opening. The Palm has attractive man made beaches to keep the kids happy, and it is away from the craziness of the city.
Our favourites include Anantara Dubai The Palm, which is built around a series of huge lagoon swimming pools – amazing for older children. For families with younger ones in tow, the Sofitel Dubai Palm is a great option. It’s right at the far end of the Palm so further into town, but you won’t want to leave the resort thanks to the well run kids club (4-12 years,) and the fun waterslides at the children pool. The resort boasts fantastic serviced beachfront apartments which have up to 3 bedrooms, sitting areas and kitchens.
SAADIYAT ISLAND, ABU DHABI
Over the past 5 years Abu Dhabi has put itself on the map as the up and coming Emirate, and it doesn’t disappoint. Saadiyat Island has been earmarked as the cultural centre of Abu Dhabi, promoting both Eastern and Western art and thinking. The island is also home to a protected, beautiful 9km stretch of stunning beach with two spectacular hotels that are ideal for families looking for a varied and enriching holiday.
